We know. We know. February? A beach vacation in February?

But hear us out – Hilton Head Island is more than just beaches. It’s more than just golf. So why not go in February, when you don’t have to fight your way through the hordes of people who come from all over the world for just those two facets of this vacation destination?

You’ll have a little bit more room to maneuver with the crowds thinned out, and you’ll get a chance to really experience the island – its culture, its people and its beauty.

Need further convincing? How about a few more reasons to visit Hilton Head Island in February.

The 22nd Annual Gullah Celebration

If you’ve never experienced the culture, the sounds and the flavors of the native Gullah population of Hilton Head Island, you haven’t experienced the island. The descendants of freed slaves, the Gullah created a culture and a language of their own, weaving together African and American traditions into something unique to this area.

Each year, the Gullah Celebration runs throughout the month of February, highlighting the art, music, foodways and stories of this fascinating culture. Events at all points of the island and on every day of the month will give you fascinating insights into a culture born right here on the southeastern coast.
