Got birdies on your mind? Than these best places to play golf on Hilton Head Island need to be on your list.
- Atlantic Dunes in Sea Pines Resort was named the National Golf Course Owners Association’s "National Course of The Year." Five-time winner if the RBC Heritage, Davis Love III, was the perfect fit to complete the total redesign of the historic Ocean Course. It was the first course built on Hilton Head Island and is truly a one-of-a-kind golfing experience featuring a pronounced seaside ambience and Lowcountry feel. Both visually and strategically stunning, the holes are accented by coquina shells, seaside grass, rolling sand dunes, and a bounty of native pines and oaks lining the fairways.
- Nestled amongst the pines and moss-covered oaks of Palmetto Hall Plantation is the Robert Cupp course. Unique. Innovative. Eminently playable. The Robert Cupp course is a stunningly original design that tests the better player, but accommodates higher handicappers as well. Cupp, Golf World’s former Architect of the Year, opened his signature course at Palmetto Hall in 1993, and the course continues to draw high praise for its flexibility, sound shot values and impeccable year-round conditioning.
- Palmetto Dunes boast 3 Championship courses. And The Robert Trent Jones track doesn’t disappoint. It’s considered to be one of the best golf courses in the Southeast, and Golf Week named it one of the, “Best Resort Golf Courses” in 2018. Famous for its open, inviting layout and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. In fact, it has one of only two oceanfront holes on Hilton Head Island; the par-5 10th hole with sweeping ocean views stands apart as one of the region’s most breathtaking golf experiences. Pity you’ll have to keep your head down!
- Shipyard Golf Club is truly unique golfing experience on Hilton Head Island because its twenty-seven holes of spectacular golf in one fun, family-oriented package. Meandering through Hilton Head’s natural setting of majestic Carolina pine trees, flowering magnolias and moss-draped oaks, the Shipyard Golf Club delivers unforgettable golf for exceptional value. The Clipper course may be the most difficult of the nines with plenty of sand and water hazards. The Galleon Course is the original nine holes of the Shipyard Golf Club with holes that twist and turn their way through large oaks and tall pines. And the Brigantine Course has plenty of scenic water-filled holes–and alligators sunning themselves along their banks. Talk about a golf hazzard!
