We loved our stay! The home was beautiful with tons of space. The location was perfect - just a block from the beach. And the amenities (pool, grill, kitchen supplies, etc) made our stay so fun and comfortable!

Nice home
We enjoyed the home and found it to be as advertised. Great location and the pool and outdoor living space was enjoyable. Kids loved it, just large enough to feel fun. There are areas for improvement. The hot tub was user unfriendly and lack any instructions for using or heating. A pool guy showed up unannounced the first morning we were there and upon arrival the pool had a lot of debris. It’s clear that it only takes half a day and some wind to make the space look unkept but finding it like that, then spending an hour skimming and sweeping the pool deck then have a stranger pop in the next morning when the kids and wives were at home alone wasn’t a great way to get started. Suggest leaving a leaf blower on site for guests to use and communicating any planned visits. Also would have been easy to have the pool guy come the day of our arrival so it was immaculate upon check in and to avoid them popping in the first morning would have made it better. Additionally the guest bathroom sink was basically unusable as it drained so slowly that washing hands or brushing teeth immediately filled up the sink. The exterior grounds initial impression upon arrival could also be improved. We were told to use the garage code to access the house but the code did not work, we figured out that the front door code worked just fine so it was confusing instructions and initially were were stumped on how to access because we were following the instructions. We would consider staying there again but with so many great houses in the neighborhood we may look elsewhere next time too.

Thank you for your feedback, we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the home, the location, and the outdoor living space, and that your kids had a great time. We do want to address a few of your concerns. The roof was cleaned prior to your check-in, and immediately afterward the property manager personally blew off the deck and skimmed the pool, in addition to the professional pool cleaning that had already been completed. With the environment, debris can accumulate quickly, sometimes within hours due to wind, but we do make every effort to have the property in top condition upon arrival. We apologize for the confusion regarding entry. While there is a garage, the primary access point is the front door keypad. We’re sorry for the miscommunication there. If there are ever issues with access codes, we encourage guests to call us right away so we can resolve it immediately. The spa instructions are provided both in Guest Connect and within the home—pressing “#1” turns it on and off. That said, we’re always happy to walk guests through it if needed. We were not made aware of the slow-draining sink during your stay. Had we received a service call, we would have addressed it promptly, as we want everything in the home to function properly for our guests. As for the pool service, the technicians operate on a set schedule due to servicing multiple homes each day, so we’re unable to guarantee an exact arrival time. We understand how an unannounced visit can feel intrusive, and we appreciate that feedback as we continue to improve communication where possible. Thank you again for your stay and for sharing your thoughts. We’re glad you would consider returning and hope to provide an even smoother experience next time.

23 Sandpiper was the perfect place for our family to stay. From the location, to the pool, to the amenities, it had everything we needed and more. The beach was less than a five minute walk away with ample bike and scooter paths for my four-year-old. The pool was perfect, and the sitting area was a hit, not to mention the hot tub as well. The location was close to everything as it was situated in the middle of the island and close to Coligny Plaza. It also came with four bikes which we got some use out of! In addition to this, we did run into a couple of very small problems which were both remedied in an incredibly timely fashion. The communication was top-notch.

The location, house, amenities, communication, and cleanliness were top notch. The rooms were great for our group, the heated pool and hot tub incredible and location unmatched. We ran into a couple small issues while there which were both taken care of immediately and with the kindest people.

Nice place very close to beach.
We really liked this place. It was perfect for our 3 granddaughters who are 6,4 and 2. We like the extra precaution for the locks on doors. The pool was perfect as well. Thank you for all the beach towels and the great cooler. We would definitely stay here again. We feel the dishwasher could use a good cleaning. The drying rack was broken so could not use it.

Ideal spot for a group of adult friends
This house was ideal for our groups needs - close to the beach, great pool and hot tub, big table to play games, and a great kitchen to cook in. Plenty of beds and bathrooms with space to spread out. The house felt nicer than many “updated” rentals. We loved being so close to the beach and having bikes ready to go at the house. We’d love to come back!

Beautiful property!
Beautiful property with close walk to the beach. We visit Hilton Head almost every year and this was our first time at this property. The weather this year wasn’t the best for the beach so it was great having so many things to do at the house. We enjoyed the hot tub, pool, ping pong table and PlayStation for the younger crew. We also enjoyed riding the bikes to Coligny. The house is stocked with virtually everything you need. There is a wagon in that can be taken to the beach, but you will need to bring your own umbrella chairs. Wasn’t a problem for us because we chose to rent those items. You won’t be disappointed here!

Well kept home
This was a beautiful well kept home. We took our 4 adult children and their fiancé. We had space for all of us. A short walk to the beach, a short walk to coligney plaza and a short drive to other restaurants in the area. The home had ample space for everyone and would definitely come back here.

Exceeded our expectations!
This property exceeded our expectations. The game room was a favorite for the teenagers to play pong. The decor was so gorgeous I was sad when I had to leave the luxury. The attention to detail and the design was first class. I loved the comfort of the sitting areas, especially the unique sitting area off of the bedroom (where I was able to get a bit of work done). The pool was perfect. It had a little "table" that was cool to sit around and talk. I will absolutely rent this property again. Thank you for making this property so special.

Perfect getaway
I loved staying here so much! Everything was perfectly clean and well-stocked. The decor of the home is so restful and tasteful, and just plain lovely. You are a short three minute walk from the beach-- and a walk that is perfectly safe for adults and children alike (with supervision of course). The street is wonderfully quiet, and the house gets gorgeous natural light throughout the day. We rode our bikes into town, to restaurants, and even to putt-putt. There is plenty of parking, if you need. And there is truly something for everyone at the house-- toys and swimming gear and plenty of space for kids (of all ages) to play. And then for the adults, all of the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen were sparkling clean. I used the washing machine and dryer multiple times; everything worked perfectly and felt very clean. There's multiple rooms and areas to sneak off to if you need to work, zoom, or just read with a cup of coffee. A well-stocked gameroom and multiple TVs. Plenty of storage in the kitchen for any groceries you might bring-- and the house is fully stocked with every pot/pan/dishware you may need. A delightful fire pit, large pool and hot tub, outdoor chairs and tables to enjoy the warmth. Check in was very easy, and the owner/management company was very responsive, accessible, and helpful. Plus, the whole place is just adorable. I will be coming back here time and time again. Would recommend to any and everyone!

Great family retreat!
We spent time at the Sandpiper 23 residence for a family reunion. It was such a quiet and peaceful corner of Hilton Head. Just a 3 minute walk to the beach and a short 5 min drive to town for dining or shopping. Our group of 10 slept comfortably in the super clean and well appointed home, and we had plenty of space to congregate for games or conversation! The sparkling pool with hot tub and fire pit were also favorite spots to hang out. Can't wait to come again!

We enjoyed staying in your beautiful rental home at 23 Sandpiper for my family's Hilton Head vacation. It had everything you could need from a well stocked kitchen to all the must-have beach supplies, like a beach wagon and beach chairs. The backyard was our favorite part of our trip. Beautiful pool, hot tub, and a nice fire pit, where we enjoyed s'mores each night. Great memories were made, and we hope to stay in this home again! Thanks so much!

Gorgeous, clean vacation home!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 23 Sandpiper! Perfect location- short walk (less than 5 minutes!) to a gorgeous stretch of beach that is not crowded at all. It is also centrally located to many restaurants and shopping. The backyard is gorgeous! Lots of seating for everyone to be comfortable, a nice fire pit for chilly summer nights, outdoor shower, grill to cook out and a beautiful pool and hot tub. It is also very private. The tree swing in the side yard is a fun bonus! The home is very spacious with 2 living areas so you never feel crammed. The kitchen is beautiful and fully stocked with all pans and utensils to make a nice meal. I was also quite pleased to find a real coffee pot- not just a Keurig, although they have that too. We will absolutely be back to this lovely home!

This Week’s Progress (May 2-8)

Marinex crews pumped sand on the stretch of beach along Belted Kingfisher Road, Green Wing Teal Road and Seaside Sparrow Road.

The sea turtle nesting season started on May 1. The Sea Turtle Patrol of Hilton Head Island monitored the area, checking to see if any nests were built. None were discovered this week. We value our partnership with this organization and appreciate its efforts to protect sea turtles and their eggs, especially during this phase of beach renourishment.

Looking Ahead (May 9-15)

Marinex will continue pumping sand on South Beach. The crew will keep moving north and focus on the section of the beach from Green Wing Teal Road to Surf Scoter Road.

Tilling work, which loosens compacted sand, takes place at Pine Island on Wednesday, May 13, and at Central Atlantic Beach between Coligny Beach and the Hilton Beachfront Resort and Spa in Palmetto Dunes on Thursday, May 14. The beach will remain open, but beachgoers should follow posted work signs in these areas and exercise caution.

The beach renourishment project has an anticipated completion date of May 2026.

As there are many factors that can impact the project schedule, particularly weather and marine conditions, the public is encouraged to stay updated on the project’s progress—including location schedules, an interactive map, photos, FAQs, and more. More information can be found as follows:

“It’s a priority to preserve, protect and cherish our beaches – one of our greatest assets. Our Island depends on their ongoing vitality. The Town’s role is to carry out the community’s collective dedication to this environmental core value through our investment in restoration and maintenance,” said Mayor Alan Perry. “And fortunately, due to the foresight of Town leaders before us and thanks to our millions of visitors, this project is funded through our beach preservation fund and capital improvement program.”


Beach renourishment is a moving work zone that typically progresses at about 1,000 feet per section-just 2% of the Island’s total beach area. On average, only 300 feet of beach will be impacted per day. Temporary beach access ramps and clear signage will help direct beachgoers safely around active work areas to open areas of the beach. As soon as an active site is completed, the equipment will move down the beach and the newly renourished section will open.

Special protection has been made for wildlife that may be impacted because of the project. All work will be supervised by consultant teams under contract to monitor sea turtles and migratory shorebirds. Additionally, per a requirement of the beach renourishment permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the Town amended its municipal code to restrict animal/dog activity in an area adjacent to Fish Haul Creek beach park. This requirement protects endangered shorebird species that migrate and nest there. Signage is posted and no other beach areas will be affected. Dogs are still allowed per the Town’s seasonal rules – only a small section of the creek area adjacent to the beach park is restricted.

Marinex Construction, Inc., the contractor for the project, began mobilizing equipment this month in preparation for the work. This includes positioning their offshore barges and staging miles of steel pipes to pump sand from ocean shoals back to beaches. Crews will be working around the clock daily.

The beach renourishment process helps to:

  • Preserve a healthy shoreline ecosystem for wildlife such as sea turtles and shorebirds.
  • Protect beachfront properties and infrastructure from storms.
  • Provide wider, more enjoyable beaches for residents and visitors alike.
