Property was excellent but unfortunately we will not be returning to the USA as the political situation and disrespect to Canadians has forced us to plan other opportunities in travel.

Great house
We love this house! This is the second time that our two families have rented this property. It has plenty of space and is close to the beach. It is also walking distance to restaurants and the general store. Our kids favorite part is the pool and the pool basketball hoop.

Wonderful family vacation
We were 7 adults and 1 10yo. The house is beautiful and in a fabulous location. Super easy beach access. The four stars on cleanliness was only bc the patio area had uninviting chair cushions ( not what is shown in photos) that were constantly damp so we couldn’t sit on them. Otherwise the house was sparkling. We loved the beach gear and adventure tickets we got through the management company.

Nice family getaway
We had a good experience with this home and the property management company. Everything was as described, check in and check out process was a breeze and best of all the location was fantastic. Short walk to the beach and also a quick drive to many shops and restaurants. Overall very pleased with our stay.

Beautiful home close to beach
The home has been recently renovated and it is really nice. The house makes good use of its square footage because the home has several rooms with lots of beds that would easily allow for 12-14 residents. The kitchen has everything you can image for cooking or barbecuing on the grill, which is adjacent to the pool. This is a really nice home within a 3 minute walk to the beach in the beautiful Palmetto Dunes area. My family and I highly recommend and would consider staying at again upon our return to the island.

Family vacation
Gorgeous home, lots of space for everyone. Everything was in excellent condition. Super clean. Only issue we had was nats outback after 5pm but thats nature. Lots of deer moving through property in the mornings. Great, unexpected surprise! 3min walk to beach was nicely maintained.

Great spot
Great spot for families with children. The walk to the beach was fun and short, and the pool was great for evening fun. Also nice they each room except for the bunk bed room had their own bathroom!!

Well managed pet friendly home
The property management was excellent. Check in/out was seamless and entirely online. All of the information that we needed was readily and handily available. We found an issue on arrival and the company immediately resolved, taking into consideration our schedule. The house itself is fine and spacious but I wouldn’t try to fit to capacity. We only had five max and it was fine. Kitchen well equipped. Beds not super comfortable but ok. Upstairs stays noticeably warmer but we all fit downstairs. Pool is really nice feature and we stayed out there often. You can hear everybody in neighboring houses which detracted from the experience. Very short walk to beach which made it easy to go back and forth multiple times a day. We rented chairs from shore-beach rather than hauling our own. All in all, a comfortable pet-friendly home close to a great stretch of beach with a great management team.

Beautiful property and pool deck
Easy walk to the beach, wonderful secluded property. We saw deer and other wildlife daily walking though the backyard. The bikes were great for our tween/teen kids and extremely easy to unlock and use.

Clean property, nice, and very convenient
This was our first stay at 44 Mooring Buoy, and we absolutely loved it. The home is in great condition; well kept; and fun for the whole family. Very convenient to the beach. Will definitely stay here again.

2025 Beach Renourishment Project 2025 Beach Renourishment Project

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS provided by the TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND

Hilton Head Island's beach is crucial to both residents and the local economy. To preserve this valuable resource, the Town has planned a beach restoration project for Summer 2025, funded primarily by tourism through the local Beach Preservation Fee.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
  • The 2025 beach renourishment is expected to be similar to the previous projects in 1990, 1997, 2006 and 2016.
  • The proposed project will include the placement of approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach compatible sand from up to four offshore borrow areas along about 46,500 ft of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  • This project is part of the Town's ongoing beach management program, with renourishment scheduled every 8 to 10 years, depending on weather and beach conditions.
  • Pine Island in Hilton Head Plantation will be included in the 2025 restoration.
SAND PLACEMENT

The proposed project will include sand placement along five areas of the island shoreline:

  1. South Beach / South Island - Approximately 750,000 cubic yards of sand along approximately 10,230 feet of the southern Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
  2. Central Island - Approximately 700,000 cubic yards along 28,860 feet of Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
  3. The Heel - Approximately 500,000 cubic yards of sand along 5,280 feet at the northeast point of the island at the intersection of the Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  4. Fish Haul Creek - Approximately 50,000 cubic yards of sand along about 2,130 feet of Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  5. Pine Island - Approximately 180,000 cubic yards of beach compatible sand and construction of six rock breakwaters on the Port Royal Sound shoreline of Hilton Head Plantation between Dolphin Head and Pine Island.
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

The nourishment sand will be excavated by hydraulic dredge from two offshore shoal features.

  • Up to 50,000 feet of pipeline will be trucked or floated to the island by way of large rafts, then moved onto the beach.
  • The pipeline will be piled in stacks along the shoreline until needed during construction.
  • During construction, many miles of pipeline will be submerged on the ocean floor between the offshore borrow sites and the beach.
  • The rest of the pipeline will be laid progressively along the newly constructed beach as the fill sand is pumped on shore.

The dredge will pump a mixture of sand and seawater through the pipeline, and will discharge it onto the beach.

  • There, it will flow parallel to the shoreline - allowing the sand to settle out and the water to return to the sea.
  • Bulldozers and other heavy construction machinery will constantly shape the sand to meet the design specifications.

Project construction is expected to last approximately six months, operating around the clock.

  • On average, the process should move along the shoreline at a rate of about 200 to 300 feet per day.
  • As the fill placement progresses, approximately 1,000 foot sections of the beach are closed temporarily to pedestrian access.
  • Several days of work activity will occur seaward of any one piece of oceanfront property in the 1,000 foot active work area along the beach.
  • Once placed and rough-graded, the new beach is immediately reopened to the public.
IMPACTS ON RESIDENTS AND VISITORS
  • Construction noise will primarily involve bulldozers shaping the sand as it is deposited.
  • Disruptions at individual properties generally last about three or four days as the renourishment operation progresses.
  • Adjacent property owners, or renters, may experience short-term minor inconveniences.
