Wonderful 3-bedroom, 3-bath home in the heart of Shipyard with an inviting open floor plan. Enjoy lovely golf course views from the private * HEATED pool. The master bedroom is outfitted with a king bed, private en-suite bath, and oversized walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a queen bed with an en-suite bath that includes a separate shower and garden tub. The third bedroom has two twin beds and access to the hall with a full bath.

Great Stay
Great stay. Clean, good condition. Only wish there was a beach parking pass since the distance to the beach entrance was far for young kids to bike.

Beautiful home
We had a wonderful stay even with Hurricane/Tropical storm Debby. Separate living rooms worked well with two tweens and a babye of my family that has lived here for nearly 40 years had some water issues but much better now. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need as far as cooking. The home was beautiful

This space exceeded our expectations in the layout! All the bedrooms are at one end of the house and the living spaces and kitchen at the other end. So, as we were traveling with teen boys, they could stay up late and hang out without keeping us up! Big spacious living spaces, beds were pretty comfy too. Bikes were great and handy- easy to get around. Pool was nice too. Overall- happy with this stay.

Family/Teen Friendly
This space exceeded our expectations in the layout! All the bedrooms are at one end of the house and the living spaces and kitchen at the other end. Beautiful scenery for a relaxing vacation

Great spot!
The property was as described in the listing. The pool was great. Very clean and the temperature was perfect. We went in late august so it was hot enough that we didn’t need to spend extra to hear the pool. The location was good as well. Close to the beach, restaurants, biking trails, golf courses ect. The only issue we had was that intermittently the AC would not run and the thermostat would go blank. This would last for several hours before it kicked back on. Not sure if it was mandatory shut off because of how hot it was to prevent the AC from working too hard. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the house was perfect for our family!

Great location, comfortable home, many fun nights by the house pool
We enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and the pool provides for good entertaining. Backs up to golf course which provides a nice view. The location is great. We biked to the beach and many great restaurants are easy biking distance. However getting friends through the Shipyard gate was a challenge.

Great pool, quiet neighborhood
This was our second stay at 71 Gloucester. The pool is our favorite part. Lots of sun in the backyard, view of the golf course from the pool,, you can pay to heat the water (we were there in late September and it was well worth it), you can turn on the light at night to swim, grill out right next to the pool, etc. What else do you need?! It’s an easy 10-15 min bike ride to the beach and bikes are included. There are backpack beach chairs in the garage (I think there may be two, not sure as we had our own). The kitchen is well stocked with anything you’d need to cook meals. Brand new fancy refrigerator. Oh and there is a ping pong table in the garage that is lots of fun. We love the home and will continue to return. After staying two times though the improvements that I believe are needed are: 1) floor of entire place should be mopped, not just vacuumed, between guests. This was input from our last visit too 2) need a smart TV in the main living area. Yes there is cable there, but in the day and age of streaming a smart TV is almost the price of entry. There is an HDMI cable off the TV which makes you think you could stream but the technology is too old and it does not work. There is a Roku in the twin bedroom but it’s on a tiny TV in a room you could not all gather to watch. Neither of these points would prevent us from recommending the home as we do love it. Just thoughts on improvements to make it even better.

Perfect Family Vacation House
The house was all that we expected. The property was well cared for and the neighborhood was perfect for riding the bikes along the trails. We spent a lot of time in the amazing pool and loved every minute of it. The family also enjoyed playing table tennis. The house had everything we needed and made for a great family vacation! Lovely home, with beautiful neighborhood. Quick bike trip to the beach - golf course in the backyard. We paid for the pool to be heated, which was well worth it. Great stay!

Beautiful rental
Quiet home with golf course in back area. Bike riding was an excellent activity. Home was supplied with EVERYTHING that you would need. Wish pool had a solar cover as leaves and tree droppings fell in everyday. We NEVER used the pool.

Great home, great location
This property was really the best of both world...so close to the beach and the heart of all things Hilton Head, however a very private community, where you could easily unwind. Very peaceful. The heated pool was a big win for our family, as well as the ping pong table. House looked better in person than online. Only complaint was the house wasn't as clean as we would have liked, nor what we've previously experienced with other properties.

Nice simple and cozy home
We tried to have a 1 level home with great location. This home is nice and cozy. Kids love the table tennis and the free bike rental. Love the bike trail and all the wonders of this community. Unable to use the pool as it’s too cold but kids wanted to come back in the summer. Good home and amenities with lots of space. Only bad part was Wifi internet is very poor. Not enough strength I needed to use my our own personal data instead.

Great House with a Great Location!
The renting process was super easy with great communication. The house was Awesome. You can sit on the patio and watch the golfers go by. Nicely lascaped and very comfortable.

Great space and lovely outdoors!
My family (5 adults) loved this house - the space layout was great, and the fact that it was mostly on one level was ideal. The house was immaculately clean and the backyard was perfect - in the sun, in different places, all day long. The pool was lovely, and the ping pong table was a great bonus! If you are booking because of the tennis facility it includes, you might want to call ahead and check with the tennis facility that they aren't hosting a lot of tournaments - those took priority over us so we didn't get as much as we would have liked - but the proximity to the beach and the warm weather certainly helped! The master closet could almost be a fourth bedroom - loads of room to get the suitcases out of the way, and truly relax!

2025 Beach Renourishment Project 2025 Beach Renourishment Project

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS provided by the TOWN OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND

Hilton Head Island's beach is crucial to both residents and the local economy. To preserve this valuable resource, the Town has planned a beach restoration project for Summer 2025, funded primarily by tourism through the local Beach Preservation Fee.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
  • The 2025 beach renourishment is expected to be similar to the previous projects in 1990, 1997, 2006 and 2016.
  • The proposed project will include the placement of approximately 2.2 million cubic yards of beach compatible sand from up to four offshore borrow areas along about 46,500 ft of Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  • This project is part of the Town's ongoing beach management program, with renourishment scheduled every 8 to 10 years, depending on weather and beach conditions.
  • Pine Island in Hilton Head Plantation will be included in the 2025 restoration.
SAND PLACEMENT

The proposed project will include sand placement along five areas of the island shoreline:

  1. South Beach / South Island - Approximately 750,000 cubic yards of sand along approximately 10,230 feet of the southern Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
  2. Central Island - Approximately 700,000 cubic yards along 28,860 feet of Atlantic Ocean shoreline.
  3. The Heel - Approximately 500,000 cubic yards of sand along 5,280 feet at the northeast point of the island at the intersection of the Atlantic Ocean and Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  4. Fish Haul Creek - Approximately 50,000 cubic yards of sand along about 2,130 feet of Port Royal Sound shoreline.
  5. Pine Island - Approximately 180,000 cubic yards of beach compatible sand and construction of six rock breakwaters on the Port Royal Sound shoreline of Hilton Head Plantation between Dolphin Head and Pine Island.
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

The nourishment sand will be excavated by hydraulic dredge from two offshore shoal features.

  • Up to 50,000 feet of pipeline will be trucked or floated to the island by way of large rafts, then moved onto the beach.
  • The pipeline will be piled in stacks along the shoreline until needed during construction.
  • During construction, many miles of pipeline will be submerged on the ocean floor between the offshore borrow sites and the beach.
  • The rest of the pipeline will be laid progressively along the newly constructed beach as the fill sand is pumped on shore.

The dredge will pump a mixture of sand and seawater through the pipeline, and will discharge it onto the beach.

  • There, it will flow parallel to the shoreline - allowing the sand to settle out and the water to return to the sea.
  • Bulldozers and other heavy construction machinery will constantly shape the sand to meet the design specifications.

Project construction is expected to last approximately six months, operating around the clock.

  • On average, the process should move along the shoreline at a rate of about 200 to 300 feet per day.
  • As the fill placement progresses, approximately 1,000 foot sections of the beach are closed temporarily to pedestrian access.
  • Several days of work activity will occur seaward of any one piece of oceanfront property in the 1,000 foot active work area along the beach.
  • Once placed and rough-graded, the new beach is immediately reopened to the public.
IMPACTS ON RESIDENTS AND VISITORS
  • Construction noise will primarily involve bulldozers shaping the sand as it is deposited.
  • Disruptions at individual properties generally last about three or four days as the renourishment operation progresses.
  • Adjacent property owners, or renters, may experience short-term minor inconveniences.
