While Jack and Arnie starred in it back in the 60s – the South Carolina sunlight now shines onto the likes of Justin and Dustin and many other of the world’s top young guns. We’re talking about the 52nd annual RBC Heritage golf tournament of… course. Every year Hilton Head’s very own Harbour Town Golf Links hosts the event and each time golf fans, vacationers, locals, and partygoers alike, come out in droves to attend one of the most popular stops on the PGA Tour.

Unless you’re attending Monday (April 13) through Sunday (April 19), it’s nearly impossible to see and do everything the tournament has to offer. So, your hospitable friends at Vacation Company have created our top 20 Tips for Hilton Head Island’s 2020 RBC Heritage. The list is in no particular order and will check all the boxes for anyone with a ticket. From the hardcore golf fan to the southern social butterfly – all will walk away with a Hilton Head tan and an RBC Heritage smile.

  1. Before you leave your Harbour Town villa, bring a fully charged cell phone. The RBC Heritage will have over 30,000 people sending, refreshing, and sharing all day long.

  2. If you like to people watch – the Heritage is the place for you. It’s just one big southern soiree folks.

  3. Fill up at the turn on boneless wings, shrimp & grits, fish tacos, and more. The concessions upgrade is thanks to the partnership with Hilton Head’s own, Serg Restaurant Group.

  4. If you’re the highfalutin type and enjoy rubbing elbows with Hilton Head Island bigwigs, the Calibogue Club between 17 and 18 is for you. It’s private though, so bring your platinum card.

  5. No trip to Harbour Town is complete without taking a selfie with our famous red and white striped lighthouse. And if you climb to the top, you’ll see some jaw dropping Lowcountry views of #18 and the Intracoastal Waterway.

  6. Want to get close to the players? Harbour Town’s practice putting green right outside the clubhouse is the best place for it. You’ll be right there as players exchange small talk, strategy, and where to eat dinner later that night on Hilton Head.

  7. Don’t forget to pick up some sweet swag at the RBC Heritage merchandise tent between #1 tee and #9 greens. One’s wardrobe cannot have enough plaid.

  8. Any animal lovers out there? Nearly every Harbour Town Golf Links hole with water has an alligator taking in some sun while golf balls whiz by overhead. But do stay behind the ropes.

  9. The PGA Tour’s got a JT, a JB, and a DJ. While the RBC Heritage has – an IPA. Head over to the craft beer garden at the 15th green. The beers are cold and they’re delicious.

  10. Give the Wine at Nine a try. Here, RBC Heritage wine lovers can enjoy an upscale venue and sip premium wines while looking down upon the lowly beer drinkers. To each their own, we say.

  11. If you’re running low on cash don’t worry. Harbour Town Golf Links has ATMs on holes 1 and 18 have got you covered.

  12. Any active military and families get free tournament admission. Plus, they get access to the Patriot’s Outpost, with free food, beverage and outdoor viewing – on the 7th hole. It makes the RBC Heritage the perfect opportunity for military members to visit Hilton Head Island.

  13. Grip and rip it. That’s what nearly every player will do on the 2nd hole. Check out Harbour Town’s short par 5 as it will have an abundance of birdies and eagles – and maybe a blue heron or two.

  14. The par 4 8th hole is a long dogleg left with water protecting the green. There’s a good chance you’ll see more gators than birdies on this hole that test even the best golfers nerves.

  15. The RBC Heritage Lawn from the 17th green to 18th tee box is where the party’s at. Lots of food. Even more drinking. And some world-class golf on the side.

  16. Need to check your messages and write the perfect caption (#RBCHeritage)? You’ll find Cell Phone Zones at the Clubhouse and on the 1st, 10th, 13th, 15th, and 18th holes. Remember to tag the Heritage.

  17. You want to see more than one player hit at the same time? Camp out at the Harbour Town Golf Links driving range. It’s drivers for days. Bombs away.

  18. If you’re a golf purist – find a seat at the 16th green and then watch the par 3 17th tee shots. This is where the RBC Heritage is won or lost on Sunday.

  19. Harbour Town’s 18th green has the Ultra Club. The perfect place for cold beers and hot putters.

  20. And finally – drink water and apply suntan lotion. Hilton Head Island spring temperatures can get awfully warm. This is non-negotiable.
